We've got all the answers.
How much will it cost?
That's the question we get asked most, and that's why it's at the top. The best answer we can give is, how much is a new bike? Of course, it depends on how many gears you want, size, extras and so on. For an accurate estimation of cost we suggest you contact us using the contact page, or better still complete our project enquiry form. That will give us a better idea of your needs and allow us to provide a more accurate estimate.
To help though, we've provided some guide prices below.
Custom websites from £600
Template websites from £150
Search Engine Optimisation from £200
Managed Services start from £25 per month, (depending upon size and complexity of project)
Pay as you go options from £25 per month, (minimum term applies)
Custom work charged at £320 per day or £40 per hour
Fixed price quotations can be provided if necessary. We're also able to provide simple holding pages and email for your business from £50. Template websites start from £150 and are an excellent choice when time or budget is of primary concern. We strongly recommend getting in touch for a no obligation quote. Once we understand your requirement we'll be able to give you a more accurate idea of the costs involved, and there are no hidden extras. The price we quote is the price you pay. We also offer a pay as you go option where a simple monthly payment covers the cost of website development, hosting ongoing search engine optimisation and maintenance — some clients find this an easier way to spread the cost of owning a professional website. Please contact us for more details on this option.
Do you offer other services other than web design?
Yes we do. Please review our services to see what we can do. If you have something specific in mind and it's not on our site, then please drop us a line using the contact page and we'll see if we can help you. If we can't help you, we'll try and find someone who can.
What can I expect once I sign up for your service(s)?
First we want to completely understand what your requirement is; what you need, any constraints that apply (time, budget etc) and the results you hope to achieve.
Once we fully appreciate what it is you're after we'll present you with a written quotation describing the project deliverables, terms and conditions, revisions included and hosting if required. If you're happy with the proposal then we can get the ball rolling with your website.
We're keen to keep you in the picture throughout the project, so we'll send regular emails informing you of progress, explaining what we're doing and if there are any decisions to be made (names of email accounts, web addresses etc). We like to keep our clients fully informed - right up to final delivery. (We even keep in touch with our clients after delivery just to make sure everything is ticketyboo.)
What is the process in developing a site?
Key to the success of your site is our understanding your requirement. We'd like to know as much as possible; you may have a theme or a style in mind, or even know of a website you've seen that you admire. We'll gather as much information as we can on how you want it to look and feel, and temper it with what the purpose of the site is.
If you're happy to leave the styling to us that's no problem, we're familiar with what the options are and what would be most suitable for your need.
Once the look and feel is agreed we'll create a draft of the site and get your content in. We can create the content on your behalf if you prefer. We'll then give you access to the draft site and make any revisions until you're happy. We then tidy up the code, make sure it's optimised, and either present you with the finished code to take away, or host it publicly on our own severs.
If you have a managed service we follow this up by regularly reviewing your site to ensure optimal performance in search engines, and apply any updates you may want to the site content (i.e., new photo's, paragraphs or contact numbers).
Can you help me write the content for my new site?
Most definitely. We're used to writing compelling content for websites, blogs and advertising briefs. Careful keyword research and market / competitor analysis allow us to ensure our copy is complementing your business, informing your customers and enhancing your brand image.
Will my website design be search engine friendly?
Absolutely. All our websites are validated against the W3C and use best practice guidelines as issued by Google. We ensure your website is as visible and friendly to search engines as possible, using only approved SEO techniques.
What is Search Engine Optimisation, and do I need it?
Search Engine Optimisation, or SEO, is making your site as friendly as possible to search engines, like Google or Bing. Using standards-compliant coding in your website, sensible use of relevant keywords and content, your website can perform noticeably better in search engine results than websites which are constructed without. What we can't offer is guaranteed first page ranking on Google results, beware anyone who does! (Only Google themselves can guarantee you that).
We regularly research SEO techniques and always employ the most tried and tested methods to optimise our sites. We can track their performance with Analytics software and review site performance as required. If you have a particular requirement, or are interested in paid advertising, then please contact us for further details.
I just want my existing site optmised for search engines, can you do that?
Yes we do. we're able to apply best practice techniques to your website, usually without disrupting the existing look and feel of the existing site. In exceptional circumstances your site architecture may require rework, but we will be able to tell you this from the outset. We charge an hourly rate for SEO work, so please contact us if you'd like to discuss this further.
How long until my website design is up and running?
We can fit in with your timelines. Our quality approach can't be rushed, but if you're timescale dependent please get in touch to discuss this. We can usually accommodate accelerated development. Please inform us if this as early as possible in the project.
Do I own my site at the end?
This depends on the project. If you just require web design then yes, you walk away with the delivered article and own the copyright to the design. For template customisation it largely depends on the point of origin, as some designers stipulate copyright ownership even when their work is reused. Please contact us on this if you have any particular concerns.
Do you provide hosting?
Yes, we use our own servers hosted in a fully resilient data centre. Our servers are high specification and have guaranteed availability.
Do you have a refund policy?
Yes, but we've never had to use it! If you're less than one hundred percent happy with our service, or have a fair reason to grumble, we'll give you a full refund and part as friends. We'd rather have a satisfied ex-customer, than an unhappy one.
What are your billing policies?
For websites, we ask for a fifty percent deposit up front once the proposal is accepted. The full balance is payable on delivery of the website. Managed services require a monthly stipend, payable in advance. However, we can tailor our payment packages to suit. Please contact us if you need further detail.
What do you know about social networking?
Lots. Certainly enough to know they can be used as excellent complementary services to your website. We're solid users of Twitter, Facebook and Flickr ourselves, and are able to advise you on the best services you can use to enhance your web presence. We're familiar with all major services and can integrate your accounts into your website if so desired. (A lot of our clients use Twitter to post updates to their websites themselves.)
Are the websites you make Accessible?
Yes they are. All our sites are validated against W3C guidelines and use semantically correct code. This is considered best practice and allows visitors with impaired ability to use your site.
Can I track visitors on my site?
Yes, we use Google analytics to track site visitors, how they found you, where the came from and how long they stayed. All these factors allow your website to be enhanced to attract more visitors and potentially emphasise areas of your site that are getting lots of hits.
Will I get to speak to the web designer?
Of course. We're a small agency and we prefer the personal touch. we'll give you a contact name for your designer so you'll know who to call if there's something that needs doing.
Can my website design support eCommerce?
Yes it can. Or, we can build a dedicated eCommerce solution, based on popular frameworks or customised to your requirement. We can even set up third party eShops for you (like Shopify or Big Cartel). Please contact us if you have a particular requirement.
How often can I make changes to my website design?
We make changes on a monthly basis, unless there's something urgent you need to do. Our managed services include free monthly updates your site, every month. One-off requests - and as long as it's a teensy weensy change that you can email to us - we're usually able to accommodate free of charge. Complex updates, for example additional pages or new functionality, are charged at an hourly rate of £40. Please confirm with us beforehand the nature of the change you want to make, how often you'd expect to make it, and how quickly you'd like them applied. This will allow us to advise you of any cost implication.
Do you offer logo design?
Yes we do. We work with several professional graphic designers who can custom design a logo to suit your particular requirement. Custom logo's establish your identity, strengthen your brand and reinforce your credibility. We can also use your existing logo's in new websites. Please contact us for further information.
Do you offer website design templates or customised website design?
Both! We specialise in custom website design, but if cost and time are critical factors for you then we'd suggest visiting our sister using a template. Templates are simply websites that have been professionally designed and built already, saving design and development cost - we simply modify it to suit your needs.
Can I see some of your work?
Of course. We have our most recent projects displayed on our portfolio. If there's something specific you'd like to see, or know if we've done before, just drop us a line on the contact page.
Do you have references?
We certainly do. Please contact us for a list of references.
I really don't understand much about web design, could we have a chat please?
Of course. We have our most recent projects displayed on our portfolio. If there's something specific you'd like to see, or know if we've done before, just drop us a line on the contact page.
Will you test my website design for cross-browser compatibility?
Yes, that's integral to our development process. We currently test sites with over 26 combinations of operating system and browser, including Windows, Linux and MacOS, Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Internet Explorer.
